ELECTION UPDATE: Everyone will be able to vote for LMP!

2010. március 20.

The deadline for collecting support slips was this past Friday, March 19th at 4:00 PM (Find out more about support slips and the Hungarian election system by clicking here.) Up untill the deadline, it seemed that LMP (Politics Can be Different) would not be able establish regional lists in all of Hungary's 20 regions. Stress was high, and all of LMP's activists were working hard up untill the bitter end. Many cut it close, so much so that for example the 11th parliamentary district's candidate, Gergely Kispál, turned in his 763 support slips at around 3:45 PM, 15 minutes before the official deadline. The situation was just as tense around the rest of the country as well. With one last massive effort by LMP's devoted activists and supporters, the party succeeded in collecting enough supports slips in the questionable regions of Fejér, Békés, Nográd, and Vas, to establish regional lists there as well! LMP is now waiting for confirmation from OVB, the National Elections Agency, on the legitimacy of all of its support slips. Tovább »

A new Századvég poll conducted found that if the elections were held today, Politics can Be Different (LMP) would receive 3% of the votes. LMP's biggest advantages is also its biggest disadvantage. Politics can Be Different (LMP) is not very prominent in many areas of the country. LMP has yet to tap into hundreds of thousands of potential voters. Domestic jobs, not imported gas!

2010. február 9.

According to LMP, decreasing the import tax on natural gas to 5% is at best a temporary solution. In the long run, it is necessary to increase the efficiency of domestic energy sources. The type of socially sensitive mentality required to implement such a change can be brought about via the institution of domestic aid regardless of the type of heating system used. The country’s disproportionally large energy consumption is unacceptable, especially taking into consideration the state’s increasing budget for environmental conservation, which comes from selling of carbon credits. As a result of this, Politics Can be Different (LMP) continues to support the advice of the ombudsman, who calls for the creation of a separate budget for environmental conservation. Tovább »
